Heather is the official winner of the "Style My Smile" contest offered by Dr. Ueckert to the JB & Sandy's listeners.

Her case is a classic example of time getting away from you and also the fact that sometimes, believe it or not, cavities don't hurt. The big question with Heather's plan was which teeth we were going to be able to save and which teeth we were not. To determine this, we decided to have her come in for an appointment to remove decay and make a set of provisional crowns on her front teeth and see how things sorted out over a few weeks time. In preparation for this, we took impressions of her teeth and pictures so that our ceramist could design a restorative plan that not only looked great but also functioned well. Using this plan we were able to give Heather her smile back in just one appointment and so far, the results are astonishing! We all shed a few tears once we finished her first round of appointments and Heather was smiling like she hadn't in years!

The next step was to even out her gumline to make her teeth look symmetrical. This is a very important step because the gums frame the teeth and a beautiful picture is enhanced by a beautiful frame. Once her tissue is stable we will be able to take our final impression to make her new veneers and crowns.

We placed Heather's permanent crowns finally!!! It took a while to work out all the details but I think our result was worth it. I was amazed how much Heather's life and her self confidence has changed since we began this process. She told me "I have gained so much in this process. I have self esteem and confidence now. I feel good about who I am, what I look like, and where I am going in life. I am not shy anymore; I am quite the opposite actually. I can approach and talk to anyone now. I feel like so many doors have been opened to me".
